MEG NZ Dotterel Protection Programme

Started in 1985 by a small group of volunteers this successful project is now run jointly by MEG & DOC volunteers. They maintain predator traps along 4km of beach dune systems throughout the year to protect an increasing population of NZ Dotterel. Monitoring is carried out during the breeding season, and a summer advocacy programme is in place to increase awareness of the protection needed for these shorebirds.
